Merch for

the masses

Merch work

As the Art Director for Silk City Printing since 2021 I have worked with our partners at Live Nation/Merch Traffic on merch for everyone from Red Bull to Reba and my separations have been used at printers around the globe.

Between Silk City’s three locations and Live Nations global music empire, I have had a part of the merch printing process for artists all over the globe. Clients usually come to us with a vision in mind of what they want their merch to look like, and its my job to make sure those visions come to life through pre-press processes, highly detailed simulated process separations and years of screen printing knowledge.

In my time working with Silk City/Live Nation the merch that I have worked on has been sold around the globe at retailers such as Walmart, Target,
TJ Maxx and many others. Some of the artists who I have worked with either through retailers or through tour merch are shown below and range from Sabrina Carpenter, Metallica, Biggie, Kelsea Ballerini, Nirvana and many others.

Separation work

As one of the only separators for Silk City/Live Nation I have completed simulated process separations for thousands of designs. If you are not familiar with the term simulated process separations it is a specialized technique used in screen printing to reproduce complex, photorealistic images using a limited set of spot color inks. Unlike the standard CMYK process which relies on four specific transparent inks, simulated process uses halftone dots of various opaque or semi-opaque colors that are strategically layered to blend visually on the garment. On most designs we are limited to only 10-12 screens/colors maximum which means a detailed understanding of screen printing and color theory are needed to make sure all colors lay down correctly to create the desired design once printed. An example of a 10 screen Biggie tee design is shown to the right as an example of how the colors lay down to create the final image.
